Call them peplum, frocks or frills at the hips, ruffle around the waist…this Summer 2012 trend took over the fashion industry. As a lover of old glamour, the peplum dress is the old party dress making its way back.

What I particularly appreciate about it is that no matter how you wear it, the peplum will give you a very elegant, feminine and sometimes flirty look. So, not only slim women can pull this look off! Nevertheless, one has to be careful as this look can also go wrong if the proportions are not correctly tailored.

I would say it’s time to hunt for the perfect little peplum dress. For that, today L’Armoire De Lana has gone shopping and came back with 3 different selections from Zara, Net-a-porter and Topshop. Hope you’ll find what you’re looking for!

Available at Net-A-Porter.com:

Few styling tips:

1) As you might notice, most peplum dresses are very simple pieces, sometimes made out of casual fabrics. This is why, they’re to be styled with bold accessories (statement necklaces, huge earrings, a couple of gold bangles, etc.)

2) Because of its simplicity and its strength that exists through the frocks, a peplum dress can easily be transformed into a look you could rock for galas, weddings and other events of this kind. A pair of nice heels, the right makeup, bold accessories and you’re ready.

3) For afternoons, pair a peplum dress with a very colorful cross handbag or  a neon satchel and embroidered flats. Let your hair naturally flow and a strong lipstick will make your face shinier.

Now, how do you feel about shopping for a peplum dress?

Fashionably yours,
