We might have seen all of the Fashion that is going to invade our closets starting Fall 2012, I still prefer focusing on our summer, at least before the coming month. Today, the focus is on the bare midriffs trend.

For those of you who might get confused with the terms, the midriff is the middle area of the human torso (usually in front). Thus, you can immediately understand what this trend refers to. I’ve spent the last couple of months asking myself if I would dare bare my midriff? I must admit I’m still hesitating about that regardless of how in loooove I am with this trend.

Few celebrities and the bare midriff trend

With the lace, the sheer fabrics and the bare midriff trends, summer 2012 is all about showing a little bit of your skin. From Versace to Proenza Schouler to Pucci and Dolce & Gabbana (who does it best in my opinion), this trend was all over the catwalks.

Versace, Roland Mouret, Preen, Emilio Pucci

It became so easy to pair the cropped bustier. With a long skirt (Pucci), high-waist skirts (Dolce&Gabbana) or with trousers and shorts, the options are uncountable.

Dolce&Gabbana, Christopher Kane, Dolce&Gabbana, Bluemarine

Zara and H&M even had their own versions of the cropped bustier, sometimes in floral prints or other times in sequins. I’m sure some of you have already embraced this trend but for the others that are more reticent about it, this might be the time to consider it.

Last but not least, I guess we’re officially in trouble. The perfect tummy is back in fashion as everyone is rocking the cropped top from the streets to the red carpet!

Fashionably yours,

Lana xx
