I cannot hide the fact that I was beyond thrilled to be attending my first Dolce and Gabbana show. I know how it’s always a celebration, no matter the theme of the collection, and I was really curious to see up-close a runway show.
Just like the DNA of the brand strongly suggest, it’s all about the South, the magical region of Italy of everything is about colors, something ideal for a summer collection. While last summer pieces celebrated the Mama, this time a tropical Italian summer is at the center of attention.
Think religious symbols, goodluck charms and flowers or various elements linked to the charm of the south from the pasta and the icecream to the music and the mandolin. These elements are spotted and heavily beaded pieces, from the denim and skirts orned with a heavy number of these strong charms to the tailored jackets that caught my attention.
My favorite pieces are definitely the vests with strong shoulders, decorated with all sort of charms that move and make a little sound when worned. These pieces are like runway treasures that we wish could join our wardrobe forever. Of course, the designers didn’t forget the classic black lace, a couple of hit prints and the forever-loved polka dots.
Crowns and flower headbands were the main accessories and I particularly loved the flat shoes, adding a hint of cool to every look.
The finale was spectacular and entertaining as all models walked the runway wearing adorned mini skirts styled with the same DG white t-shirt. A shirt everyone will be wearing next summer, I’m pretty sure.
