New York fashion week is down and we embraced London Fashion week on friday. I can now calmly go back to most of the shows that took place during #NYFW and write this round-up for you all with the essential trends’ that were spotted on the catwalk! All-in-all, we’re definitely going back to 1930s and 1960s feel with geometrical shapes and loads of texture.
Here are the top 6 trends that I spotted:
1) COLOR BLOCKS:
Believe it or not; color blocking is still making its way through the seasons! Here’s what you’ll be wearing in terms of shades next winter!
2) HOURGLASS FIGURES:
For curve lovers, you’re going to be served! Fall 2012 will bring in extremely well defined waists and exaggerated hips. Major hourglass shapes were spotted on the catwalks; especially with Marc Jacobs and his bell curves.
3) ANDROGYNOUS & MILITARY LOOKS:
Dressing like men is a trend that is also staying for 2012’s cold seasons: heavy tweeds, tuxedo shirts and bows were seen on runways. Ralph Lauren was one of the best examples with his models dressed as the typical British gentlemen.
As for the army looks that marched down the catwalks with models in embroidered epaulettes (Victoria Beckham) and belted regimental jackets (Jason Wu); it’s my favorite trend of that entire fashion week!
4) FUR & KNITS:
I’ve started this post with an introduction mentioning the 1930s and 1960s fashion notably with plenty of fur; from gilets to long coats. The cold can’t find this trend!
For those who wish to stay as comfy as ever, please note that sweaters are making their way back into our winter closets. Knits are taken to a whole new level for #FW12, with re-worked shapes, proportions and colors.
5) TEXTURE GAMES:
Playing with texture was already a trend through winter 2011 and with #NYFW; we’ve seen the craziest combinations ever with knit coats, glossy leather pants and much more.
6) STREET STYLE:
Everyone’s favorite trend of the decade!
Stay tuned for the coming fashion weeks’ round-ups with simple tips for you to save these up until the coming season!
