Favorite (Sugar/Gluten Free) Homemade Granola Recipe

I made a new resolution and this time I’m keeping it. I always share with you my recipes but sometimes I forget to detail many of them! To avoid this, every now and then, in my daily confession category, I will be sharing some of my favorite recipes. I’ll try to have pictures of every step and maybe a video sometimes but when time is tight, I’ll just share with you the final result!

Here’s to one of my favorite homemade granola recipes. I simply combined together some of the best recipes I found online and the result is delicious. Of course, you have to keep in mind that you can easily create your own combination for your granola, based on your favorite seeds/nuts/dried fruits. I decided to make a version free of sugar and gluten and I only honey as a sweetener!

All you will need:

-4 cups of gluten-free (optional) rolled oats

-1 cup of sliced almonds

-1/2 cup honey (or agave syrup)

-1/3 or 1/2 cup of coconut oil (you can use any type of vegetable oil, sunflower/canola oil would work as well)

-2 tablespoon of chia seeds

-1 tablespoon pumpkin seeds

-2 tablespoons of sunflower seeds

-1 tablespoon ground flax seeds

-1 teaspoon vanilla extract

-1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon

-1/4 teaspoon of salt (a pinch)


1/Preheat your oven at 200 degrees celsius

2/Start by combining together all of the dry ingredients in a big bowl: oats, almonds, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, ground flax sees, cinnamon and salt.

3/On a pan, heat up the honey with the vanilla extract and the coconut oil, when it’s liquid enough add to the dry mixture. Don’t boil it, it just has to warm up a little. I like to wear gloves and combine the ingredients using my hands, make sure the honey-vanilla mix covers everything, keep on tossing and tossing.

4/On a bake tray, spread the mixture and bake for 20 to 30 minutes, making sure you toss every 10 minutes to avoid burning the mixture. When it takes a golden color, it’s ready. I like mine to become dark gold/almost light brown because I love it when it’s very crunchy.

5/Allow the mixture to dry and cool down on your tray for about 45 minutes.

6/ Add to it the goji berries and any other dried fruits that you like.

7/You can store in a box for about 2 months, which is great.

8/The recommended serving size if 1/2 cup or 1 cup, preferably for breakfast or as a snack. Eat it with milk, your favorite yogurt and fruits or simply sprinkled over your favorite fruit. It’s so good and it has the right sweet taste to satisfy your buds!
