“Come As You Are”, yes a Nirvana classic for Elie Saab’s fashion show. I can definitely start by saying that this collection was true to Saab’s identity in all possible ways. From the floor-scraping gowns to the incredible use of beads, sequins and lace appliques, everything was there for an Elie Saab success.
Just like for every collection, the inspiration is something you must know about. This time, Mr Saab was inspired by his work from the early 1990s, it was all about shades of gold.
What I liked the most about this show are the new silhouettes with fur shoulders, the very light embellishments contrasting with the opulent mood of the collection, the low-heeled velvet sandals completely transforming the classic Saab silhouette and the byzantine golden headpieces adorning every single look. Among my favorite gowns were the ones with the floral prints, I have to say I couldn’t resist the one where the print was taken to another level with beadings on the flowers themselves.
A golden wedding gown closed the show celebrating Mrs Saab very own gold wedding gown worn 25 years ago. This celebration of love couldn’t be more perfect to illustrate an impeccable show.
