Update your Little Black Dress

First, I must share that I am excited about one of my recent fashion discoveries. Noisy May is a very fashion forward brand that’s all about the perfect jeans fit, gorgeous knits, edgy dresses and more. What I genuinely loved about this brand is that it is affordable fashion yet extremely avant-garde and feminine. I was lucky to get a preview of their Fall Winter 2014-15 collection and select few of my favorite pieces before its release.

Perhaps, more than any other piece of clothing, the little black dress is the essential one that should be present in every woman’s wardrobe. Coco Chanel didn’t invent “la petite robe noire” but she made it become a worldwide accepted iconic piece. I’m not trying to give a little history class on this must-have piece, I just love sharing beautiful facts about fashion history, I feel these little stories give us a whole new dimension to the things we already know. In 1926, Vogue published a drawing of a Chanel design picturing a simple black dress with long sleeves worn with pearls and predicted that it would become a “uniform”. And here it is today.

In fact, the greatest thing about the little black dress is that it could take you anywhere you want; from your important business meetings to your nights out with friends, your afternoon coffees with your bestfriend to your formal sunday brunch with the family. You could style it just the way it inspires you to.

I spotted a gorgeous Noisy May black dress and I loved styling it with a pair of very edgy black sneakers, a denim vest and a colored clutch. As for my makeup, I went for dark brown smokey eyes and a nude pink lipstick. I just love darkening the makeup around my eyes when I’m wearing a day/night type of look. Rather than staying classic in the way I sported it, I wanted to feel comfortable yet create a very contemporary look that would stand out.

I also could have worn it with a colored leather jacket thrown on my shoulders, a little red clutch, in a head-to-toe black look, with a metallic belt and ankle boots or even with knee high boots and a fringed purse to add a boho hint. You simply should enjoy recreating different styles with your little black dresses. And, most importantly, always be on the hunt for simple and classy LBDs, you never have enough of these in your closets!

I am wearing: a little black dress with sheer details from Noisy May FW14-15 collection, black sneakers with silver studs from Giuseppe Zanotti, a sleeveless denim vest from Zara, Prada sunglasses, a Louis Vuitton ring and a yellow clutch from Dior.
