This season, knit sweaters are back to being “popular”. The beautiful thing about fashion is how from a season to another, key pieces in our wardrobes go from simple basics to must-haves. For FW14-15, your knit sweater has taken the role of an elegant and sophisticated piece. Yes, your knit is not just comfortable, it’s an extremely versatile staple. I love the very sensual side of the knit, how it flatters our skins, how it keeps us warm. I’d wear a grey wool knit sweater over a simply white cotton shirt, dark blue jeans, black knee high boots, a black cross bag and a colorful patterned scarf.
Now, there’s also what we can describe as the “couture” sweater; it has leather details, little embroideries and reflects all kinds of creativity. Wear yours with noble fabrics like leather, suede, sequins or even satin. For example, you can go for a delicately embroidered pastel pink knit sweater with a beautiful black leather 3/4 length skirt, low-heeled ankle boots and an oversized clutch. Or you could wear your couture black knit with a voluminous pink tutu skirt and patent heels.
My personal favorite is the sweater dress; which I’d wear to run my daily errands as much as if I’m going out for drinks with my friends. Wear your olive green knit dress with glittery pointed flats, stacked up necklaces, a sleek ponytail and dark plum lipstick.
