Style your closet: With Vertical Stripes

Clothing patterns affect visual perception. Based on this, I want to tackle a recent Spring 2013 trend (vertical stripes) and give you few tips on how to rock it according to your body structure.
Take a look at any style blog or fashion magazine and you will see stripes in every color and variety of widths.
YES, vertical stripes have a slimming effect, don’t you love this trend already!? On dresses, tops, shoes or event skirts, stripes are fun to style. Moreover, they say that wearing vertical stripes makes you seem taller but if you’re petite, it’s important to remember that the thinner the stripes, the better.
Most SS13 collections had a touch of vertical stripes, especially the black&white ones, which are definitely the most flattering ones!
Few tips on how to wear vertical stripes:
1. LONG AND LEAN: Pants or skirts with vertical stripes are a very flattering look, especially paired with a solid colored blouse or T-shirt.
2. CLASSICAL OR SEASONAL: The great thing with vertical stripes is that you can go from traditional blue-and-white, black-and-white or red-and-white color palette, or look for crazier options: pink, yellow, bright green and baby blue would look so fresh and different.
3. FIND THE PERFECT STRIPED T-SHIRT: Every woman needs a classic navy and white striped boat-neck three-quarter length sleeves t-shirt. First popularized by Coco Chanel, it would look perfect with an A-line skirt, slim red cropped pants, ballet flats or even on a pair of navy blue jeans/shorts with a pair of white converse.

4. COLOR-BLOCKED STRIPES: one of the hottest stripes trend this spring is to wear two/three or even more colored stripes. Examples: a top with black & white stripes in front and pink & white stripes on the back.
5: ACCESSORIZE WITH STRIPES: Add a graphic punch to your outfit by choosing accessories with multi-colored stripes. A scarf, handbag, headband or a pair of shoes will be perfect ways of sporting the trend especially if you’re not fan of stripes on clothing items. A huge tote with black&white stripes would be so nice to style with comfy and colorful summer outfits. I’d personally even go onto trying a striped manicure or pedicure, this could be so much fun!

Time to add a little punch to your wardrobe this spring!
