Spring 2016 ‘Trendictionnary’!

The ‘trendictionnary‘ should include an explanation for the condition: ‘fashion rush’. Because…. is it only us? or do you get highly pleasant sensations from assorted fashion trends as well? And then comes that FOMO* feeling again, you don’t want to miss on anything that’s happening on the runway. But we definitely got it all covered.

So here is our SS2016 trend report just for you!

1. Underwear-outerwear:

Let all your underwear see the light this season! It’s amazing how bed and drawer pieces were put to great effects by the designers on the runway. We list some of the stand-out pieces like the delicate black lace bodice at the Givenchy runways and the architecturally sewn ‘deshabille-dress’ at Celine’s.

2. Sheer my dear:

Opulent transparent. Many runways praised sheer fabrics, each following their own style. Dior went all overlaying while Gucci preserved the sensual side of it.

3. Magnetic metallic:

Mirror, mirror on the …clothes? That shiny reflective fabric was pretty everywhere. Whether designed to a minimal dress as seen at Saint Laurent or mixed with a monochrome outfit, the Isabel Marant way.

4. Fishnet power:

We are oh-so-obsessed with this trend! This season the Alexander Wang and Louis Vuitton women will be the next ‘grunge-queen. They both took the cyberpunk approach and matched that fabric with platforms, leather striped gladiator sandals, heavy belts and lots and lots of studs.

5. Sportswear revisited:

Jerseys, track bottoms, sweaters… are all going to the next level, outside the gym this season! You can have so much fun experimenting with them and mixing them with other dressy items just like what Chanel did with the track bottoms, or opt for the total sporty look like Lacoste.

6. Ethnic eclectic:

Some designers were really influenced by the Southern breezes that spring imports with it. Feathers, earth colors, prints, beads and ornamentation, all gathered and gave the Valentino and Alberta Ferretti and African-desert queen with a romantic elegance.

Here was your first practice to overcome any ‘FOMO’ feeling! Stay tuned for more!
