Today is the big day for the reveal of Karl Lagerfeld’s ‘Reincarnation’ collection for Chanel. This Métiers d’art collection is to be shown today in Salzburg.
In the short movie released about this collection, Lagerfeld teamed up with Pharrell Williams who composed and wrote the lyrics to “CC The World” (original soundtrack for Reincarnation) and Cara Delevingne, the face of the upcoming Paris-Salzburg collection campaign.
Reincarnation is the story of a lift attendant’s (Pharell William) jacket being reincarnated as a timeless piece of women’s wear, the iconic #Chanel jacket. I love how Lagerfeld always imagines an episode of the life of Gabrielle Chanel (embodied by Geraldine Chaplin in the short movie). Fashion always become more beautiful when associated with a little story, with real parts of the world history, with something that sounds so far yet that we can easily imagine.
Karl makes us dream, wander in our heads in the streets of Salzbug back in the 1950s. With this new collection, he basically got inspired from the Austro-Hungarian empire, from the long nights in Salzburg back in the heart of the 1950s. A lot of beautiful elements from this era come to my mind (big jupons, structured jackets, embroideries, big hairstyles, voluminous clothes, etc.) and I’m so excited to discover the looks..
With this little story, this beautiful reincarnation of a timeless piece, I will never look at the iconic #CHANEL jacket in the same way.
So excited for the reveal of the Paris-Salzburg collection!
