Mon Armoire: My First Abaya Look

I love everything about oriental fashion. From the simple abayas to the colorful ones with beadings and the opulent accessories, everything about our culture is so sublime. During my trip to Dubai last April, I made it a point to find the perfect classic black abaya. I fell in love with how fashion can be taken to another level with something as traditional and religious as the abaya. I love how in most countries in the gulf, women looks so simple in their abayas, yet they dress beautifully and in the most stylish ways under it. It’s really beautiful and usually, they go super creative; which I actually admire a lot. I’m still not a pro at styling a abaya but I loved wearing mine with a very casual outfit under it and snapping few pictures to share them with you! Yes, I did wear this outfit and went to my friend’s iftar because I wanted to look different and stand out. Plus, it’s ramadan so there’s nothing more beautiful than a little bit of  a conservative mood.

I don’t know how much each and every one of you feel ready to experiment new cultures/traditions/classics when it comes to fashion but personally, it’s something I want to start living more. We can all rock a colorful short dress or a pair of leather pants. I want to travel the world through what I wear. What do you think about that?

I am wearing: marc by Marc Jacobs t-shirt, 7 for All Mankind skinny jeans, Isabel Marant x HM pumps, headpiece from Piaff Boutique, Louis Vuitton patent burgundy shopping bag and a black abaya from Hanayen (brand based in UAE, got it during my last trip to Dubai).
