If I were to describe the Lanvin SS 2017 collection I would say:
Think majestic blue, soft high end silks, gigantesques feathered collars, intense and meticulous embellishments, sheer and lace trimmed evening wear and so much more than this.
Bouchra Jarrar, the new creative director of Lanvin surely knew what she was doing when she chose to closer her own label and take over the fashion house. And I have to admit she really absorbed Jeanne Lanvin’s tailoring skills for women, to create such a unique collection. Besides that she was already known for her meticulous ‘main d’oeuvre’, a remarkable way of cutting pantsuits, manshirts, vests, and trenches.
It all took place in one of those vast halls of the Hotel De Ville in Paris, which was filled with chandeliers. The show debuted with a charmeuse suit mixed with a striped chiffon shirt beneath it, followed by an array of inevitably beautiful pieces, from revised biker jackets and gilets with big collars, to those draped dresses.
I personally fell in love with Jarrar’s ‘ready to wear jewelry’ that were somewhere between modern and eccentric just like those gold knots of chain mail and crystal as choker necklaces, diamond strands dripping over hands, woven ribbons with gold threads that made it to the evening jackets.
Let’s just say, the fashion house is definitely in good hands with Jarrar!
