Lana reviews: The Met Gala

Here’s to another big fav red carpet event of the media. The Met Gala definitely means gorgeous dresses, fashion competition and also disastrous choices! This time, some of the extremely stylish celebrities went for complete failures.

Here’s my own review of the Met Gala appearances yesterday, make sure to tune in to our Facebook page tonight for more as we will ask YOU to evaluate some of the dresses I won’t mention here.

I’m going to start with Rihanna. I believe her dress is worth a note. She definitely snapped attention yesterday night as she arrived to the Gala in a black crocodile dress. This Tom Ford dress..I love the idea of using an exotic skin for a dress, it makes it a jewelry piece and Rihanna was very careful styling it with minimal makeup and accessories.

THE DIFFERENT:

From left to right: Lana Del Rey in Altuzarra (love the dark lipstick but would have seen her without the black cape), Chloe Sevigny in Miu Miu (the hair is a mess, the dress is original!), Eva Mendes in Prada (different, fresh and elegant) and Ginnifer Goodwin (I love the upper cut of the dress, I hate the shoes!).

THE IN:

1) From left to right: Gisele Bundchen in Givenchy (I wish she left her hair flowing though and I hate the shoes!) , January Jones in Atelier Versace (perfection!), Jessica Alba in Michael Kors (good as usual! stunning dress color) and Cameron Diaz in Stella McCartney (she looks like she aged so much but the dress is good for her figure).

2) From left to right: Sofia Vergara in Marchesa (sexy as always, I like the peplum!), Nina Dobrev in Donna Karen New York (elegant, I wouldn’t wear this dress but it suits her!) and Carey Mulligan in Prada (I loved everything about her look, the hair is perfect and the dress is original, she looks so cute!).

THE NOT BAD:

From left to right: Scarlett Johanson in Dolce&Gabbana (the dress is fine, her look is fine but I think she could have done way better), Hillary Swank in Michael Kors (not a failure, not a success) and Dakota Fanning in Louis Vuitton (her dress looks like a cloud, I like it!).

THE OUT:

1) From left to right: Lea Michele in Diane Von Furstenberg (it’s not working!), Leighton Meester in Marchesa (what’s with her tanned face?), Sarah Jessica Parker in Valentino (she’s cute but she looks like she’s wearing a piece of curtain), Kristen Dunst in Rodarte (major #fail) and Elisabeth Banks in Marie Katrantzou (another #fail #fail of the night).

2) From left to right: Kristen Stewart in Balenciaga (the dress is nice but not for a Gala as such), Gwyneth Paltrow in Prada (she looks great but I hate the dress, it’s like a piece of chiffon) , Beyonce in Givenchy (We know you’re curvy but that’s terrible, the lower part of the dress looks like a carpet) and Marion Cotillard in Dior (I have to admit that I love the dress but her hair/makeup just killed it).

Any favorite dress? I’d love to read your thoughts about the oscars of the fashion!! Who doesn’t love the Met Gala anyway!?

Fashionably yours,

                                Lana xx

  1. Mary katrantzou’S collection is my current inspiration, but i agree that Elisabeth Banks is not wearing it well at all! i’m in love with the yellow versace dress, and even Lana Del Rey in Altuzarra looks very stylish. At first i was ehsitant about the cape, then -merged with the lipstick- i thought it completes the look. Rihanna, omg, looking sexy as hell, love the dress and have u noticed her nails!? Two things i disagree with in the whole : Nina Dobrev in Donna Karen New York – horrible 🙂 and although each piece of Carey Mulligan’s look (hair and Prada dress) looks good seperately, together i think she had dresses suit her better in the past.
Voila, my own personal short reaction, Hahahaha. Thanks for this great Review!!!

    1. Hahah thank you for the amazing comment Roo!! I didn’t notice Rihanna’s NAILS!!! It makes me love her look even more, this dress is breathtaking!!!!! I loooove mary katrantzou because her work is so different and the patterns are always gorgeous but Banks failed in that dress! Versace is rocking it so far this SS12! <3
