Lana reviews: #MilanFashionWeek roundup (part 1)

I tend to believe that the French and the Italian do it best. This is why, excitement kind of kicks in for me as soon as Milan Fashion week starts until Paris ends it in the most perfect way. Here we go for a first Milanese roundup.

I’ve always said I’d love to meet the genius Miuccia Prada. I love how she can always deliver a very challenging and powerful show. This time, the Spring Summer 2013 collection is inspired from the Japanese culture.

A lot of florals, black and white (monochrome is THE trend next summer), emerald, purple and blush pink composed the palette. I like how the models had a very Geisha look with the red lips and the tousled hair. As for the cuts, everything was so clean from the kimono style dresses to the tunics and skirts.

If you love colors, Gucci is the one for you this time. Fuchsia, citrus yellow, a lot of blues and bold colors kept the audience thrilled about the show. This show was all about the 1960s with the loose fitting tops, the dramatic high necks, the oversized collars and the flared trousers. I also liked how shirts, trousers, shoes and accessories were most of the time matched for the most striking head-to-toe looks.

This time, the brand presented the widest choice of red carpet worthy designs. From lace gowns to more cocktail-like ones, the dresses were in the most various colors: from neutrals (beige, nude pink, white, black) to shades of blue and green.

Versace’s SS13 collection presented the most feminine creations with a lot of lace work.

Pale blues, oranges and green dominated the show after a very neutral first look.

Black or nude lace marked nearly every piece and I really like how very sensual lingerie pieces in lace were worn with the masculine jackets clinched in at the waist.

Dear shoes’ lovers, you must know that Versace SS13 pumps are THE killer high heels with straps around the leg up to the knee..don’t you love?

We went back to the 60s with Moschino’s pop art collection. What a nice show. I think it’s the first time I like their work for a while already. Clear lines, strong colors (orange, pink, blue and yellow), bold graphic elements, florals, big earrings, white gloves..everything was there! Repeating motifs also included hearts and diamonds of playing cards.

Stay tuned for more!

Fashionably yours,

Lana xx
