Lana reviews: Gucci Fall/Winter 2012, #MFW

Milan Fashion Week beautifully kicked off yesterday with Gucci’s Fall/Winter 2012-13 collection.

Again, Gucci left me speechless as the collection hinted dark romance. A lot of dark colors with also lots of jewel shades like plum, sapphire and the fabulous emerald green. I personally LOVE velvet and I’m in awe with their massive use of the fabric for this collection. There was a lot of leather and tulle as well.

As for the shoes, there was a lot of crocodiles and flat boots to remind us of the masculine trend.

I personally love how we’re going back to the true meaning of winter fashion! Some might judge it as too dark but I adore this mystical side the brand gave the models yesterday; something like a enigmatic romance.

I think the best description is the one given by Frida Giannini (creative director of the brand) herself: “This is a modern-day romanticism, a dramatic sensuality, a dark glamour, with subtle games of provocative intellect.”

Checkout these few pictures:

Long emerald velvet dress (with prints)

Equestrian pants and flat crocodile boots for a masculine look (note the Fur, trend we've mentioned with #NYFW)

Leather and tulle+velvet skirt: another trend spotted in the two previous FW fashion week: Use of multiple texture/fabrics

Finally, the models had a very natural beauty look with their hair long and slightly pulled back in the front. They had almost no makeup but a strong bordeaux lipstick.

As you can see, very natural makeup on the eyes with the attention turned to the dark bordeaux lips

LOVE the hair clip!

Any thoughts about the collection?

Fashionably yours,

                                Lana xx
