Lana reviews: Elie Saab, Zuhair Murad and Georges Chakra – Couture #SS13 #PFW

I’m extremely proud every time to see how much Lebanese designers are awaited and watched during Paris couture week. I know most of you might have already checked out these three collections but this post brings you my review of each one of them.
1. Elie Saab:
Style: some called it a safe collection while I think he kept the refinement of his previous designs and created a very light collection. The use of delicate fabrics like chiffon, tulle, organdie, lace and silk made us feel that models were walking on clouds. Every piece is embroidered with sequins, big crystals or with silver thread foliage (my favorite!).
Colors: white, sky blue, beige, nude, light pink, light mauve, champagne and red watermelon.
Shapes & lengths: above-the-knee skirts and dresses for the day and very long and fluid evening gowns.
My favorite in this collection: the long dresses starting with the bustiers and ending with a crinoline skirt.
2. Zuhair Murad
Style: Titled the “Golden Age”, this collection is all about fashion opulence with a lot of feathers, pearls, sequins and crystals. This collection wants to celebrate the woman as a goddess, whether with the strong golden hues or with the feathers’ statement and the classic cape (that we also found in Elie Saab’s collection and many couture ones this season).
Colors: gold, champagne, beige, grey-blue, sky blue, white, nude pink, grey
Shapes & lengths: above-the-knee short dresses, mermaid cuts, flowy long skirts and loads of corsets.
3. Georges Chakra: his collection comes in contrast with the first two mentioned in this post as he went from something totally different.
Style: This time, Chakra’s collection is all about glamour “electrified” with strong and vibrant colors of a modern fashion era. I must admit that I was very surprised by the very youthful and electro-pop of this collection. I still don’t know how I feel about it as I’m used to very classic Georges Chakra and the massive work with fabrics. Nevertheless, he brought in many interesting colors’ combination and dress cuts.
Shapes & lengths: jumpsuits, A-line dresses, geometric cuts, asymmetrical shapes, backless pieces, etc.
Colors: fuchsia, orange, yellow, black, sky blue, white, navy blue, green grass.
Fashionably yours,
Lana xx
