Here’s to another show I loved covering during Paris Fashion Week but that I didn’t have time to share about on my social media platforms. Time flies during fashion month and sometimes we barely have few minutes to grab a meal between a show and another!
When we see micro-pleats, we think Miyake. The house signature is a recurrent element in every single collection but this time these pleats were once more revisited, redefined. What can a pleat be? What can a pleat do? This was what we had the chance to experience with Miyamae and his vision for Spring Summer 2016. I love how pleats became like a texture to mold into the body of a fabric. It became an element used to create new cuts, new silhouettes.
I loved the very structural looks created with the wavy pleats using contrasting colors in the curves, it created a nice movement. Most importantly, this collection is extremely wearable. I loved the total pleats looks with structural tops and puffy skirts. The color palette was tropical-inspired, perfect for a summer we already long for. The use of fringe, in my opinion, came to perfectly complete the pleats’ game. Un sans faute, comme toujours.
