Graphic black and white. Why do I love it? In a crazy world where clashing prints and so many colors are back in trend, there’s something very reassuring about the simplicity of black and white, about how clean and minimalist it can look. So imagine how it feels when it’s organized in stripes, grips and other very figure-flattering vertical planes. What I love about graphic monochrome is that it immediately gives this modern and assertive look, a woman looks confident and strong. The ideal way of styling an outfit like that is either to keep everything else simple and not adding a touch of color or clashing the dryness of the look with a pop of colorful pumps or clutch. I prefer graphic black and white with a touch of metallics, it adds a little futuristic touch that I love.
Perhaps the strongest collection of the fall/winter 2015 is Valentino’s. I remember how the fashion show surprised us with the series of black and white looks, they looked simple yet elaborated, especially with the use of contrasting fabrics. I loved the touch of tulle on many of the dresses, giving every piece a couture dimension. The two-tone checkerboard and triangle patterns were my favorites along with the bold geometric stripes. There’s something so elegant and poised about these looks, it’s just too beautiful.
I am wearing: Valentino dress, boots and sunglasses. Charlotte Olympia clutch.
