Another exciting premiere for L’Armoire De Lana this season, the Celine fashion show! I’m a huge fan of Phoebe Philo’s philosophy and it was very important to me to get a closer look at her work, at her vision of womenwear.
For her debrief about this collection, Philo says that it was all about “taking her out of urban life and putting her feet on the sand”, which actually explains the show set up with dried mud as the floor and very colorful fabrics hanged up, it was constructed by FOS, a Danish installation artist. The music had a lot of mechanistic drumming. A strong contrast.
For this collection, Philo wanted to go deeper about how clothes make a woman feel and how a woman actually behaves in different places. Hence, this collection was all about: “if you were traveling for a year, what would you need to take with you?”.
It made sense that the collection debuted with lingerie-inspired slip dresses followed by coats and jackets with a curvy shoulder and a lot of pants, cropped trousers, oversized pieces. I also loved the long fluid jersey dresses. I wouldn’t pick one look from this collection, I would pick several ones because if I were to travel for a week, I would need outfits that would complete each other. Thumbs up for a collection that was all about today’s women reality. And what a beautiful emotional meaning.
